Harry Coumnas Loves his Job of Saving the Earth from Aliens
Always finding himself staring in space, Harry Coumnas loves his job of planetary protection officer. His work includes saving the earth from aliens! Yes, you heard it right, the aliens. It might sound like a job from a movie, but that is sort of what he does. In a recent interview, he himself states, “Defending Earth from aliens is the whole point of his job.”
Harry loves to spend most of his time reading about Mars and whether life exists there or not. He points that the spacecraft that was sent to Mars has proven that life indeed exists there. Holding a strong scientific background and PhD in his field, he is best fit for his job. He is concerned about avoiding the biological contamination in human and robotic space exploration. Besides, Harry Coumnas takes precautions to protect the Earth’s biosphere in case life does exist elsewhere.
He holds advanced knowledge of planetary protection and have an expertise in space programmes of national significance. He is well versed with NASA’s Planetary Protection Policies and requirements that ensure the safety and verifiable scientific exploration for extraterrestrial life.
Harry Coumnas works to assist in the construction of sterile spacecraft, the development of plans to protect Earth from returned extraterrestrial samples, and formulation and application of space policy as it applies to Planetary Protection.
